The Odia film industry has achieved a historic double victory at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which will be held in Panaji, Goa, from 20 to 28 November 2025. Two remarkable Odia films Bindusagar and Mahima Alekha have been officially selected, representing the state’s cultural depth and artistic growth on India’s biggest film festival stage.
🌊 Bindusagar- World Premiere In Gala Presentation
The Odia feature film Bindusagar will have its world premiere in the prestigious Gala Presentation section at IFFI 2025, directed by Abhishek Swain and produced by Platoon One Films featuring Prakruti Mishra, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra and others. Set against the spiritual landscape of Bhubaneswar, Bindusagar tells the story of a young woman reconnecting with her roots and an older man seeking faith and meaning. With eight original songs and stunning visuals, the film bridges Odisha’s tradition with universal themes of love, loss, and belonging.
🔱 Mahima Alekha- Honoured In Indian Panorama Section
Another Odia masterpiece, Mahima Alekha, directed by Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, has been chosen for the Indian Panorama section of IFFI 2025. Produced by Dr. Iti Samant and Dr. Snehashree Swain, the film explores the profound philosophy of Mahima Dharma, Odisha’s unique spiritual movement that venerates the “Invisible One” (Alekh). Through its authentic storytelling and rich visuals, Mahima Alekha showcases the spiritual, philosophical, and cultural heritage of Odisha, now reaching global audiences through IFFI.
