A Shocking Scene in Keonjhar – But the Real Story Is About a Rule Most Indians Ignore

A Shocking Scene in Keonjhar – But That’s Not the Real Story

When people first saw the viral visuals, the reaction was instant—shock, disbelief, even anger. A man walking into a bank carrying his deceased sister’s skeleton. It looked like something unreal. Something disturbing.

But if you pause for a moment and look deeper, this isn’t just a shocking story. It’s a story about something millions of Indians still don’t understand.

This Wasn’t Madness. It Was Frustration.

The man, Jitu Munda, wasn’t trying to create a scene. He was trying to do something very simple- withdraw a small amount of money that belonged to his late sister. But every time he went to the bank, he was sent back.“Bring documents.”, “Bring proof.” And somewhere along the way, the meaning of “proof” got completely lost. So he did what made sense to him. He brought what he believed was the strongest proof possible.

The Rule That Changed Everything

Here’s the part most people don’t know.  Banks in India follow guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India.

And according to these rules:

👉 Money from a deceased person’s account cannot be handed over without proper documentation.

Not because banks are heartless- but because they are legally bound.

The Simple Truth That Could Have Prevented This

If you strip away the emotion, the entire situation comes down to just three things:

1. A Death Certificate

This is the most important document. Without it, nothing moves forward.

2. Identity + Relationship Proof

To confirm who is claiming the money.

3. A Nominee (if available)

This is the fastest way to access funds.

The Most Ignored Banking Step in India

Let’s be honest.

Most people open bank accounts… and forget one simple thing:

👉 Adding a nominee.

It sounds small, but it changes everything. Because when a nominee is present:

  • No confusion
  • No long process
  • No repeated visits

Money can be released much faster.

A Hidden Rule Most People Don’t Know

Here’s something rarely discussed,  for smaller amounts banks often allow simplified settlement processes.

That means:

  • No court case
  • No complex legal fight

Just basic documents and a simple form.

But the problem?

Most people don’t know this.

Where the System Also Failed

Yes, rules are important. But communication matters just as much. In many rural areas:

  • Banking language is too technical
  • Guidance is unclear
  • People hesitate to ask questions

And when confusion meets frustration…
situations like this happen.

What You Should Do (Save This)

If you ever face a similar situation in your family:

✔ Get a death certificate immediately
✔ Visit the bank branch directly
✔ Ask for “deceased claim settlement form”
✔ Check if a nominee exists
✔ Keep ID and relationship proof ready

Final Thought

This story went viral because it was shocking.

But it matters because it is real.

Not just for one man in Keonjhar—
but for thousands of families across India who may face the same situation tomorrow.

👉 Sometimes, the biggest problems don’t come from the system.

They come from what we were never told about the system.
